I’ve always felt that these cd slot phone holders really are the best and most consistent. Once you tighten them down, they stay in place. The problem being that new cars don’t come with cd players any longer. Suction types don’t seem to stay in place without falling loose, the air vent ones are not that sturdy but that’s more do the problem with the vents being cheap plastic and therefore aren’t strong enough. The one thing I wasn’t crazy about this one was that the pictures make it seem like the side arms are deeper than they are. So depending on the case they’re a little small. They still hold but was hoping for a better all around grip. I’ve been using this type of holder for years.

I'm a chauffeur, so my phone is vital for my job. I've tried many phone mounts over the years, this is by far the best for in the air vent.As long as you hold the button on the left for opening and closing .So the gears don't grind, it will last for ever.

I have an older Jeep Cherokee XJ and have had tons of issues finding the proper cell phone mount. This one definitely works the best. The dash is not flat anywhere, the vents too old, brittle, floppy and loose to use for mounting. I broke out one of the vent fins trying to make a different holder work. This one with the CD slot mount is awesome! I just pushed that mount into the CD slot, tightened the screw underneath, and it is in there solidly and reliably. It is sturdy and easy to tilt left, right, or up and down to adjust the view using the ball mount behind the device. NOTE: If you still use your CD player and worry about your vents being right for the mounting, then maybe this one isn’t for you. I installed Bluetooth in my Jeep so all my music and hands free audio comes from my cell phone nowadays. I love this mount and highly recommend it. Solid, well made, and seems to be quite durable. I have a iPhone 14 Pro in a military grade protective case and it fits just fine. The release button works great and expands quickly when pressed. The rubbery edges inside the holder work extremely well too.

I purchased this mount to replace a cup-holder phone mount in my 2009 GMC Sierra. My primary goal was to free up the cup holder while still having easy access to my phone for navigation.There are several things I like about this mount. It is easy to rotate the phone between portrait and landscape, the side arms do not interfere with the phone's buttons, and moving the mount to the CD slot freed up one of my cup holders exactly as I had hoped.Unfortunately, there are also several design issues that keep me from rating it higher.The biggest issue is the ball joint. Even with it tightened as much as possible, it would not reliably support the weight of my Samsung Galaxy S23+. After about 30 minutes of driving, the phone would gradually droop from roughly a 45° viewing angle to nearly vertical. I suspect part of the vibration comes from mounting in the factory CD slot, but the ball joint should be able to hold its position once tightened.The mount also extends farther from the dash than I expected—approximately 3½ to 4 inches from the face of the radio to the front of the phone. That long cantilever likely contributes to the bouncing over rough roads.Another drawback is that, in my truck, the mounted phone completely blocks the factory LCD display, including the clock. If I want to check the time while driving, I have to wake the phone screen instead of glancing at the vehicle display.Although the product is advertised as case-friendly, the lower support tabs are spaced too close together for the rubber charging-port cover on my OtterBox Defender case. The phone will fit in the mount, but when charging, the rubber cover prevents it from seating completely.One minor point is that the release button is on the left side. This is simply a personal preference, as every previous mount I've owned released from the right side.Overall, I think the concept is good, but the design could be improved. Shortening the distance from the CD slot to the phone, increasing the holding strength of the ball joint, and widening the spacing of the lower support tabs would make this a much better mount—especially for larger phones with protective cases.

I bought this for my son and he said it works perfect. He is able to drive and have the gps on so that he is not touching the phone while driving. He said it was very stable and it did not shake when he was driving.
